A WEDDING NIGHT Sunday Drive Down Memory Lane

Good Sunday Morning, JaSammers!

As promised, this week, we’ll celebrate what came after the long-awaited “I Do’s” for our beloved couple!

I remember their wedding/wedding night week so vividly – the actual episodes, watching and crying together while on the phone with Ro, tweeting and texting all night with Becky  while waiting for the screencaps to be posted…it was as though someone in our family had just tied the knot! *sigh*

The Good Ol’ Days of GH…

It’s why posting these anniversary vids fills the void in my JaSam-loving heart – albeit temporarily – so sweetly.

At Karina’s insistence, I am dividing the Drives into two categories – The Wedding Night, and then, next week, the Happy Honeymoon scenes. Hey, I can never get too much of a celebration when it comes to our couple, so why not?

Let’s take a moment to appreciate The Magic Makers (vidders) who gave us the gift that keeps on giving with their incredibly done “scrapbooks” of our unforgettable JaSam Wedding Night. Where would we be without the memories?

I shudder to even imagine.

In all my years of soap watching, I have never cherished a wedding night more than Jason and Sam’s. They are truly incomparable! ❤

I hope you enjoyed this week’s Drive…Next week, we head to Hawaii!

An ANNIVERSARY Sunday Drive Down Memory Lane

Happy JaSam Anniversary, JaSammers! ❤

Really great Love Stories, like our couple’s, are to be celebrated long after the “death” of the couple. That’s because LOVE that amazing and inspirational lives on and on.

So, of course, today on their wedding anniversary (even though the wedding *date* was September 23) we shall do just that: celebrate our all-time favorite Love Story by remembering their Wedding Day.

I don’t know about you, but I will be eternally grateful to the vidders who memorialized forever this incredible occasion we anticipated for almost eight years! Looking back at all of these fabulous memories warms my heart and filled my eyes with tears. I can never regret the investment of time and energy I put into Jason and Sam. They were worth the time, effort, and yes – even the heartache of losing them! I’d do it all over again – without a single hesitation!

Enjoy the Drive, dear friends! Just please don’t forget your tissues!

NOTE: I purposely left out honeymoon vids…we”ll celebrate that NEXT WEEK! 🙂

“You May Yet Hold Happiness Again”

Good morning, Faithful. 🙂

Sorry for not checking in for a couple of days…it was the last couple of days for us with visiting family, and between them, all the fireworks, food and fun, I just could not find the time to sit and post without feeling as though I was being rude or inconsiderate.

In my search for The Beauty of GH in what is onscreen, I have decided that the soap gods were whispering to all of us through Thursday’s episode in the form of what else, but a fortune. (Oh, how I miss the days of looking to fortunes for a glimpse of The Morgans’ future!) If I am wrong, please don’t burst my bubble. I am trying desperately to hold on.

Sam’s fortune read, “You May Yet Hold Happiness Again.”

Though I fought it, my heart welled with hope. Sure, there were those who theorized that she was talking about John, or even Baby JJ, but I choose to believe that the writers chose a chinese fortune cookie to send a very clear message. Sam wasn’t reading her horoscope in The Sun, and she wasn’t reading some cheesy card. She was reading a fortune from a cookie that came from the very restaurant where she held the happiness that came from exchanging vows with the love of her life. I refuse to believe that means nothing!

I also think Robert wasn’t just a reminder for Sam of what all of the symbols of their wedding meant, but a reminder for us all. How long had it been since any of us dared to even think of The Phoenix and The Dragon? Probably since those figurines were left behind. Yet, Robert Yi was there to make us all think back to that magical night, where Sam and Jason learned that tighter, they bring double happiness. *sigh*

I found it quite telling that Sam didn’t burst Robert’s bubble as he waxed poetic about the night of Jason and Sam’s wedding, and the love they so obviously shared. To hear him tell it, I realized that we weren’t the only ones overjoyed to watch them become Mr. & Mrs. Morgan that night. I am hoping that true to the strong faith in the Chinese culture, whatever rituals Sam and Jason were a part of that night still serve to protect the love and the happiness that was theirs in that garden and for such a short time afterwards.

Wasn’t it said that from that moment forward…They were One World. Earth,Water, Air, and Fire…together…for ALL ETERNITY?

As a witness to the vows and promises spoken that night, I have to hold on that, which is precisely why I cannot, on principle, watch the train wreck written for their characters.

Whatever happens, however they get over it, come out of it, fight through it, I will be there; cheering. But I cannot, and WILL NOT watch anything that goes against the legend of The Dragon and The Phoenix.

I hope you feel the same, and that when all is (forcibly) said (through terrible writing) and done (without making any kind of sense to GHers like you and me), the same will hold true for us, as it will for Sam: “You May Yet Hold Happiness Again.”

A Sunday Drive Down Memory Lane…Heading Down A ONE WAY

Happy Sunday, GHers!

First, please join me in wishing our very own Steph, (@soapfanfiction) a very Happy Birthday!

Steph, I hope you enjoy every minute of your special day…and considering you’ll be spending it with Mr. Steve Burton himself, and some great friends, I am sure it will be!

Wishing you your best year yet! Love you bunches!

😉

In honor of Steph’s birthday, and the JaSam Wedding Reception some of you enjoyed, and the fact that we ALL just need a break from the tragedy and heartache, this week’s Drive can only go in ONE DIRECTION, and that’s away from everything Franco!

Only JaSam Love and Happiness for today…we can wait another day to be sad.

This will totally set the mood for our Drive today! What an amazing compilation of happy moments! “Storybook Story” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzBYXWit2O4 Credit: aproditebeauty

OMG! This vid was so adorable, I almost expected to wake up tomorrow with no memory of Franco! “Dance Me Til The End of Love”  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZduuvlP1NQ Credit: scooter5117

While this vid reflects on some of the bumps on their road, what is reflects most is how Jason and Sam have gotten through…holding on to each other. “I’m Not An Island” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1CkYTdBfZY Credit: tenpointoh1

This whole vid had a happy vibe. Loved it! “You Are” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcNn6VBpS98 Credit: reallysophie

The bliss continues in this sweet, sweet vid! “For Just One Moment” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=124f5BTBoC0 Credit: aproditebeauty

The vidder claims she needed some JaSam Love in her life…don’t we all!! ;)How timely, and what a GEM! “Take My Hand” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKFTDYkD4V8 Credit: tenpointoh1

What I wouldn’t give to hear these words come out of Jason…and soon! “I’ll Make Love To You” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCmQCCWXSyg Credit: aproditebeauty

Don’t you feel better now? I know I do!

🙂

I am hoping our Drive left you in a much better place emotionally, and ready to face what comes next for our beloved Jason and Sam! I also hope you’ll take the time to thank our videos, and comment on their vids. They deserve the love!

I wanted to thank you all for your love and kindness to me this week! I responded to each of your comments, and I was deeply moved by your thoughtfulness to me! I even realized one dream – and that was to meet @Jenncorb and her precious Aly, who stopped by to visit me on their way to the JaSam Wedding Reception! Thanks again, Jenn! Made my day!

I hope to meet all of you someday soon…maybe even sooner than you think!

Love you all,

Angelique

Happy Sunday, GHers!

We got a WHOLE LOT of JaSam Fabulosity this week! From more of the reception, to the start of their honeymoon…there was a lot to be grateful for, and a lot to document! If you are anything like me, you have by now memorized the Jason & Sam Love Scene down to the very second. I have been behaving badly – sneaking my itouch around the house for hidden views…with the volume way down so that I don’t get disapproving looks from my family.

Honestly, I cannot remember the last time I was this obsessed about anything…it never ceases to impress me, no matter how many times I watch! 😉

Before we take off on today’s Drive…I thought it was important to really understand what the lyrics to the song used for their love scene are all about.

Click to view full size image

It was not a random song choice…it was very specific to JaSam, and perfectly describes not just how Jason feels for Sam, but how Steve himself described how his character sees his relationship with Sam. I get a bit misty-eyed when I watch the love scene now that I’ve kinda memorized the words behind the soundtrack to their “Cabin Christening”…

“Better Man” By: James Morrison
There was a time
I had nothing to give
I needed shelter from the storm I was in
And when it all got too heavy
You carried my weight
And I want to hold you
And I want to say

That you are all that I need
For you, I give my soul to keep
You see me, love me
Just the way I am
For you I am a better man
I said you are the reason
For everything that I do
I’d be lost, so lost, without you

Under the stars
At the edge of the sea
There’s no one around
No one but you and me
We’d talk for hours
As time drifts away
I could stay here for ever
And hold you this way

Click to view full size image

I know! Just so beautifully matched to our couple – right down to the references to the stars and the sea…and of course, to something both Jason and Steve have said: For you, I give my soul to keep, You see me, love me, Just the way I am, For you I am a better man.

Honeymoon Bound…and Loving It!

*******************************************************************

I am not sure how many of you saw Steve’s announcement about the Steve & Kelly Event in NYC before the end of the year…but if not, please check out Steve’s Facebook page for info.

My deepest wish is to meet as many of you as possible, and what better place than the event celebrating the couple that brought us all together in the first place?

Just a thought…

Love you all,

Angelique

********************************************************************************

I hope that everyone took the time to thank the writers and TPTB for the wedding gifts we’ve gotten so far, and the ones we have yet to receive.

I believe now, more than ever, our positivity and gratitude is needed as a guiding light for those making decisions for our soap.

Be honest, be gracious, be positive. Let’s enjoy each of JaSam’s moments as they are happening.

Let’s leave tomorrow’s worries for tomorrow…or next month. Let’s take in right now. We’ve waited too long to let is pass us by while we are focusing on something else…

And the only thing we need to know about Franco is that he’s an Oscar-nominated movie star who took the time to film with Steve & Kelly, and that the material was “intense”.

I really wish more of us appreciated James Franco for that. He’s not on Y&R!

Take a moment and let TPTB know that you are excited about Jason and Sam’s story, and confident that they will come together and overcome WHATEVER comes their way!

Please? With sugar on top?

“A LOVE TO LAST A LIFETIME”…

I tried as hard as I could to wait up for the screen caps to be posted on their site, but I had a real early morning yesterday, and have another one tomorrow. I just couldn’t stay awake any longer after 3:00 a.m.  I will post them with my very next blog! Sorry!

Dearly Beloved GHers,

We are gathered here today to celebrate the joining of our two favorites, Jason and Samantha in holy matrimony…

Can you believe it?

Many of us have waited 8 long years, since the moment that they saw each other, or perhaps from the moment they were thrown together by Fate, and learned each others’ names. Others have been waiting 7 equally long years, since the first spark they saw onscreen after Jason brushed back Sam’s hair, or caught her before she could fall. Still others are a little newer to the JaSam Love Story, and their wait has been less, but not less intense.

What makes this day so extraordinary is that no matter how long each of us has waited, Today brought our wait to an end. No more waiting.

Jason and Samantha are now officially Mr. & Mrs. Jason Morgan.

More than that…from that moment forward…They are One World. Earth,Water, Air, and Fire…together…for ALL ETERNITY.

Double Happiness.

…And I cannot stop crying! *sobs*

What a powerful, meaningful, and worthwhile wedding Jason and Sam had!

Those of you who’ve been longtime readers will know that soaps have always been a part of my life. Both my sister and I were name after two sister soap characters on the soap Dark Shadows. I’ve been a soap watcher my entire lifetime. In fact, I was watching before I knew what I was watching, because soaps were just always on at my house. I’ve seen Supercouples come, and I’ve seen them go. I’ve seen just about every soap wedding that ever was, including Luke & Laura’s.

Yet, with all of that soap wedding experience behind me, I don’t ever remember a wedding that affected me, or that embodied all that a soap couple was so completely, or so honestly, as the wedding of Jason and Samantha.

Perhaps that is why so many of us were so moved…to tears, to weeping, to a real euphoric state. I know that I was still smiling hours later, and even when I watched and re-watched, I was weeping tears of joy! Every word, every look, every touch, kiss, and embrace Jason and Sam shared felt authentic and real to what we have loved about them all along.

I’ve been to real weddings that didn’t move me as much.

Everything about Jason and Sam’s wedding night, not just their wedding, was phenomenal.

From the moment it began, to the last embrace…every single instant was precious, and totally JaSam.

When we stop and think about JaSam and their Love Story, we realize that by soap standards, they really have shared what seems like A Lifetime.

Which is why it meant so much to me that the writers would take such great care to remember so many amazing references to the lifetime they’ve shared thus far.

Thank you, Writers. Thank you!

The moments at Sam’s, where she tells Jason why she feels she can’t go through with the wedding were tough to watch. Even though we knew the wedding was coming, it was hard to watch Jason react to the possibility that Sam might not want to get married. Since the beginning of their relationship – even before it was romantic, Jason always struggled with the thought of Sam walking out of his life. One of the things that made me completely fall in love with them before they even fell in love with each other was that very vulnerability I saw in Jason. Women walking out on Jason was nothing new. We saw Liz do it. We saw Courtney do it. And we watched as he watched them go. Yet, when Sam said she was going, even though she was leaving because she thought t was best for him, we saw Jason do something different. Jason asked Sam not to go. Jason actually took steps to change her mind. That’s what I remembered when she almost walked away saying she didn’t think she could go through with it, because once again, we saw Jason’s vulnerability, and once again, he refused to just let her walk away. *sigh*

When he was able to convince Sam to admit she still wanted to get married, we saw another reminder of their early days. Sam has always been able to get Jason to smile, to laugh, to open up to her. I loved that Jason was laughing right after having faced the possibility that Sam would walk away. It shows just how much Sam has always had the power to lighten Jason up. It was beautiful, just as it was at the beginning, when Sam first came into Jason’s life.

That wasn’t the only  power Sam was wielding over Jason. No one has ever gotten him to dance, and to enjoy it, more than Sam. Their first kiss followed their first dance. The night they first made love began with a night of dancing. That magical night on the roof, the one that Sam recalled after they became husband and wife, was a magical night of dancing. As was the night Jason worked so hard to reunite with Sam on another rooftop on Halloween night. Yes, the writers remembering how special dancing has been to their Love Story was a gift to us all.

Jason and Sam also have quite the history with Chinese food. The first time Sam tried to make him dinner, and nearly burned the penthouse down, Chinese food saved their night. It was also the night Jason realized that Sam was one in a million, and it was followed by Jason’s first proposal. There’ve been lots of Chinese dinners since then, it’s been their “thing” whenever they want to escape the rest of the world, and make it all about them. How fitting that their need to do just that would lead bring them to a Chinese restaurant, and to the one place that they really could, and ultimately, would make it all about them…FOR A LIFETIME.

That leaves the one detail that usually defines a wedding… What did they wear? That also made me think of Jason and Sam’s early days. What seems like a lifetime ago, when Jason and Sam stood before the minister in a real church, and wore real wedding attire – Jason the tux, and Sam the white dress. There were flowers and candles, and wedding guests to witness the vows. The only thing missing was an actual marriage. Jason and Sam never got married that night, even though they had everything else a wedding would traditionally have. I guess that must be the reason why, when I heard Jason say to Sam, “If it were up to me, I’d marry you right here and now”, I wanted to scream, “DO IT!” Like Jason, ALL I wanted for our Jason and Sam is that they would finally have the one thing they wanted out of all of this…to be married. To finally be husband and wife. To share a lifetime as Mr. & Mrs. Morgan.

To be completely honest, once Jason and Sam decided to be married right then and there, I no longer even registered what they were wearing.

All I saw was a couple who was deeply in love, and desperate to remind themselves that being together and in love was all that mattered. I saw a man and a woman who had at last found their soulmate, and were eager to make it official. I saw two people in love who had taken a long, eventful journey, but were ready to take that next, all-important step.

And when they stood facing each other, all expectant and emotional, I’m sure recalling all of the wonderful moments that you and I remembered, all I saw was that they were facing more than each other. They were breathlessly facing A Lifetime Of Love.

If there was a dry eye among us when they were asked if they had rings, and each shared with each other how they came to actually have one, then I will need you to tell me how you were able to manage that. Hearing Jason explain that Lila wore her ring for 50 years, and that through it all, she and Edward loved each other, made me realize that Jason wanted the very same thing for him and Sam.

Just as poignant, hearing Sam explain to Jason that his mother had given her his father’s ring, and that Alan would have wanted him to have it broke my heart, as Alan won’t be able to share their happiness. Yet, Sam sharing the sentiment from Monica that their love had lasted a lifetime, and that “Oh, so would theirs” immediately healed my heart with happiness and joy.

It didn’t however, keep the tears from falling. Each time Sam’s lip trembled, or a fresh tear fell, I lost it. Every time Jason tried to keep it together, I sobbed. When they entwined their hands with the cups of wine and honey, I cried. When they listened to Robert Ye describe their characteristics as the dragon and the phoenix, I was blubbering at how perfect those descriptions were. When Sam smiled through her tears at the reality of it all, I melted. When Jason lifted his hand in his signature move to brush Sam’s hair back, and I saw it tremble, I could barely breathe. And when they kissed for the first time as husband and wife, I finally let it all out. (My poor neighbors)  I let out all of the impatience I struggled to find over the past eight years. I let out all of the frustrations I struggled with throughout 2007, 2008, and the Michael and the Brenda months. I let out all of my worries and doubts that they would ever get to this moment. And I let out all of the love I have for my favorite couple of all time.

I was still crying when my BFF, Ro called to share her bliss with me, and we watched the rest together as Jason and Sam shared their first moments as Mr. & Mrs. Morgan with the family who made it all possible. There wasn’t a single moment where it didn’t feel like pure Jason and Sam Magic. From Sam giving the grandmother her shoes, to Jason telling Sam that they would tell everyone that they were married tomorrow night. Every moment felt just right. Perfect. And Perfectly JaSam. . .

Perfectly ready to begin A Lifetime Of Love Together.

Sometimes, Words Fail Us…

Good JaSam Wedding Morning!

I have to tell you, my dear, dear friends and fellow GH enthusiasts, that there are times when I watch and re-watch GH, am full of emotions and feelings, and still find that…Sometimes Words Fail Us.

Even at the most crucial moments of our lives.

Such is the case with me after watching Wednesday’s incredible episode of General Hospital.

First, I just want to take a moment to commend the real fans of our beloved soap. Those of you who’ve done your part to support General Hospital in the ways that matter. Those who watch, and try to get others to watch. Those of you who send tweets, emails, facebook likes and comments, snail mails, and wedding cards. 🙂 Those of you who check youtube for the latest interviews, sneak peeks, and vids. Those who use their energy to be positive and spread LOVE! If you fit into any of those categories, and especially if you fit into all of them, I commend you. GH is still on the air, and that, in part, is because of you.

It’s because of you that we are enjoying the beginning of another exciting story arc, instead of watching the beginning of the end, as our sister soaps are doing. Every time I hear from one of you about sending your support in a tangible way, I am overjoyed! I am by nature a fan of teamwork, and it warms my JaSam heart when I see us all come together for “the greater good”. 😉

I just want to let you all know that I am proud to know all of you, and to call you my Bella Mafia Family.

*hugs*

I apologize to everyone, but I just cannot focus enough tonight to comment on anything else but our JaSam Wedding preparations. After having watched the JaSam scenes about 2 dozen times, and after making everyone who ever claimed to love me watch them at least twice, (with me watching over their shoulder) I have nothing but JaSam on the brain.

That’s not to say I didn’t think today’s episode was a solidly great show, because I did. It’s just that I have been waiting for all of this JaSam Fabulosity since Jason and Sam laid eyes on each other at Jake’s in October 2003.

I can’t help myself…

I thought the episode got off to a great start with Maxie and the growing list of pre-wedding disasters. That Kirsten Storms plays Maxie like no one else ever could, and a little comedic relief is always welcome when all of us are in such heightened states of emotion, don’t you think? (I know we all hope Ms. Storms is feeling better by the minute, and back before we can miss her!)

It was brilliant to have Edward stop by to visit Jason, seemingly to try to change his mind about the wedding somehow. I loved that both Spin and Jason made it clear to Edward that nothing could change Jason’s mind about the wedding. I loved Edward’s answer even more. “Good! I like Sam. She’s a strong, independent lady. Perfectly suited to you. Lila would have approved.” Awww! Edward has always, always liked Sam, and has always thought she would be good for him. It’s one of the reasons I love Edward so… I could only love him more when he asked Jason to reconsider the wedding rings they’d already picked, and give Sam the ring he’d given Lila on their wedding night. Of course, Jason thought he couldn’t possibly take such a special part of their history from them, but Edward insisted. “She’d want you to have it,” he said. “Please give it to Sam. Maybe you could pass it on to your own children someday.” Were any of you crying, as I was? For those of us who’ve watched long enough to appreciate just how special the relationship Jason had with his grandmother was, we understand that nothing could be more appropriate than Jason having her ring to place on the finger of The Love Of His Life. Mr. Wolf, thank you so much for making our GH History such a special part of the most important day of Jason’s life. I loved that it ended with Jason just staring at his grandfather. Across town, Sam got a surprise visit from her new mother-in-law to be, and was genuinely happy to see Monica. As luck would have it, the timing could not be anymore perfect, as it was the exact moment that Maxie opened up the ring boxes only to find that Jason’s and Sam’s rings were truly Jack’s and Sarah’s. What to do without wedding bands the day before the wedding? What I thought was so pivotal about Monica immediately realizing that she could have the solution is that it showed us that Monica knows exactly how Jason feels about Sam. I can tell you that as a mother and a wife who has a long and beautiful Love Story of her own, I could never even imagine some far off day where I parted with my husband’s wedding ring, unless I expected one of my children to find a love that huge and that real. Monica didn’t hesitate, and it’s because since that first time Sam came looking for her to help Jason at the safehouse, she saw the love that Sam had for her son, and she trusted it. Not easy for a mom to do. Over the years, Monica has looked on as Jason and Sam have taken their turns sitting at each other’s bedsides during illness and tragedy. She has seen that each of them has deeply struggled with the thought of life without the other. Monica recognizes that Jason’s heart is in good hands, and as precious as Alan’s ring is, Monica knows that if she can trust Jason’s heart to Sam’s keeping, trusting the ring to their marriage is easy in comparison. Whoa. How powerful. Again, I cried, and for a moment, I thought I was crying so hard that I missed Sam’s “thank you,” when I heard Monica say, “You’re welcome.” Then I realized that I hadn’t missed it, after all. In the enormity of the moment, Sam was at a complete loss for words. Sometimes, Words Fail Us.

Sam’s visitors didn’t end there. Carly came by to take responsibility for the tension between them, and of course, Sam was gracious and understanding. Carly acknowledged just how much Sam meant to Jason, so she got some points from me on that, but I wish Carly had kept her cynicism to herself. Telling Sam on the day before her wedding that opening oneself up for love also means opening oneself up for loss was not exactly thoughtful. Ugh. What could Sam say to that? Sometimes, Words Fail Us.

We also finally got to see some Maxie and Davis Girls scenes, as the mother of the bride and the wedding party converged upon the nervous bride. I loved that Alexis and Molly were willing to do whatever needed to be done, and I adored that Sam played a bit with Maxie’s mind over the maid of honor thing, but honestly, I am thrilled that Sam asked Maxie. I remember Maxie and Sam sitting on that very couch back in 2008, after Jason rescued Sam from Jerry’s boat. Maxie challenged Sam back then to carefully examine her feelings about Jason, and whether it was just the danger, or the proximity to Jason that had her all hot and bothered. The rest, shall we say, is history. 😉 To prove that Maxie is worthy of her role, she opens up a box of what should be baby blue Cartullos for Sam to wear with her wedding dress, only to find leopard print booties! Oh, Maxie! *wipes tears of laughter* Sometimes, Words Fail Us.

The steady stream of visitors continued at the penthouse, when Liz knocked on Jason’s door for a last-minute visit to the groom-to-be. While I found it so typical of Liz that she would think it awkward to visit Jason’s hospital room, probably because Sam would be there, she thought it was better to visit him at his home, a day before his wedding, with the probability being that Sam, the bride-to-be, would be off, preparing. Hmmm. Anyhoo, in the end it really doesn’t signify. You see, Liz mused at how nothing slows Jason down, and Jason answered, “Not when it’s something I want.” To which Liz had to admit that she knew how much Jason loves Sam, and wants to be with her. So far so good. Liz was anxious about apologizing to Jason about nearly killing him in the car accident. She went on and on about her bad choices, and she’d been making a lot of those since losing Jake. And she mentioned once again how she blamed herself for not watching Jake. Of course, Jason tried to ease her guilt, but Liz acknowledged that her “mistakes seem to cost more than others.” Since the only mistakes she could possibly be referring to were the accident and Jake’s death,  I thought Jason’s response was befitting. Jason said they have to believe that this was where they were supposed to be right now. Living without their son. Involved in an accident, but alive. In other words, Jason was telling Liz that nothing really happens just by accident, so it wasn’t for her, or anyone, to take the blame for. Everything that happened led to that moment, and there was no taking it back. I got it. I don’t think Liz did. I think she heard it as though Jason was trying to save her from her guilt, whereas I think that Jake’s death has made this one of Jason’s fundamental beliefs: Things happen, and all the second guessing in the world won’t change them. Liz told Jason he could only play hero to one woman at a time. To which Jason said nothing. What was there to say to someone who thinks he is getting married in order to be Sam’s hero? He can, and has, played hero to everyone in town. That doesn’t require a marriage license! I said this on Twitter as soon as the scene played out, and I’ll say it again, because I really do believe it. I think Jason heard in that statement the basic and primary reason that he and Liz didn’t work. Liz is holding out for a hero. It’s what she thinks a relationship is based on. Liz still looks to men to save her from whatever the big, bad threat of the moment is, even when it’s just her boredom. Jason also heard the difference, and we all saw the contrast, between what his relationship with Sam is based on, and what his relationship with Liz was based on. It was no wonder that Jason didn’t have a response to what Liz said. Realizing the very same thing as the Jason of Liz’s fantasy – which is that he’s not, and never was, what Liz needs, he could do nothing but let her leave, her misconceptions about what he has to offer a woman intact.  Sometimes, Words Fail Us.

You see, I think it became even more clear to Jason at that moment that Sam isn’t holding out for a hero in him. She isn’t looking to Jason to save her from anyone or anything. She doesn’t rely on him to swoop in and protect her. Sam is holding out for the chance to finally share her life with the man she loves. Sam looks to Jason for the reflection of the love she feels for him. She relies only on the strength she gains knowing how Jason loves her unconditionally, and protects her from her own fears. In return, Sam has strengthened Jason with his own dose of unconditional love, and protects him from ever doubting all that he has to offer someone in love and in life. Their relationship is perfectly balanced, and what one gives, the other returns. I cannot think of a better foundation for marriage, can you?

I imagine that those realizations are what drove Jason to search out his bride. Every visit served as an affirmation that he had finally chosen to share his life with someone for all the right reasons, and without any delusions about what he and Sam share. Of course Jason would want to give Sam a wedding that exceeded her expectations, because Sam has never once made Jason feel that he failed to meet hers.

That is just EPIC.

You could see the way that Sam affects Jason just by watching him as he enters her apartment and  calls out her name, and hears her call out his. His body relaxes, his smile shows itself, and the love he feels takes on the color of his eyes. It’s a rather spectacular thing to observe.

Yet nothing could have prepared me for the moments that followed.

Sam is standing in her wedding dress, and though she shares her concern with Jason that it might be bad luck for him to see her in her wedding dress, Jason is sure about one thing: there’s no way he’s leaving now.

So, he reminds her that he is going to see her anyway, and Sam concedes, and turns to face him.

I must confess that the minute I caught my first glimpse of Sam in her dress, looking as beautiful as I’ve ever seen her, and wearing the gown she picked out for her wedding to Jason, I wept. Not cried. Not got teary. Wept. And this was before we could see Jason’s reaction to her. Like Sam, I didn’t realize how important this was – to see Sam in a white dress, looking the part of the bride, even if it was just them. In that moment, I realized that I had been waiting for that very moment with more anticipation than I’d imagined. It was well worth the wait. Sam was stunning. What more can I say? Sometimes, Words Fail Us.

When Jason saw her; when he took in every detail of the woman he loves, and was literally rendered speechless by his Fair Samantha in her wedding dress, I wept again.  Sometimes, Words Fail Us.

It was important for Sam that Jason was finally able to summon his words, and that he was able to verbalize his reaction to her, even though it wasn’t his most steady of proclamations. That moment where Jason looks away for a fraction of a second really got me, because it was as if it was too much for him to take in. *sigh* Sam said she didn’t realize how important it was to see that look on his face, but trust me, those words he uttered to her, past the lump in his throat, and the tears in his eyes, will be forever seared into her memory. That is what the magic of the wedding day is all about…the moment the eyes of the man you love look at you in a way they’ve never done before.

Like Sam, I am so thankful that it was just the two of them, their song playing in the background. Thank you, GH Writers. Jason and Sam rarely get a moment alone. To have this moment be a moment they could share and take in alone was a beautiful thing.

The enormity of the emotions I felt nearly overwhelmed me, as they must have done for Sam as well.

“I don’t think I can do this,” Sam admitted to Jason.

Be honest, be gracious, be positive. Let’s enjoy each of JaSam’s moments as they are happening.

Let’s leave tomorrow’s worries for tomorrow…or next month. Let’s take in right now. We’ve waited too long to let is pass us by while we are focusing on something else…
