HEADING FOR THE HONEYMOON On A Sunday Drive Down Memory Lane

Good Sunday Morning, JaSammers!

Well, as promised, we are stretching out the JaSam Anniversary Celebrations as far as we can…and our last stop is Hawaii for their honeymoon!

Let’s try and relive the magic of those happy moments in Hawaii…and in our history as JaSam fans.

We came so close to having it all, but let’s not allow the fact that we lost them taint the fact that while we had them it was PHENOMENAL!

Let’s enjoy this Drive and HEADING FOR THE HONEYMOON!

A WEDDING NIGHT Sunday Drive Down Memory Lane

Good Sunday Morning, JaSammers!

As promised, this week, we’ll celebrate what came after the long-awaited “I Do’s” for our beloved couple!

I remember their wedding/wedding night week so vividly – the actual episodes, watching and crying together while on the phone with Ro, tweeting and texting all night with Becky  while waiting for the screencaps to be posted…it was as though someone in our family had just tied the knot! *sigh*

The Good Ol’ Days of GH…

It’s why posting these anniversary vids fills the void in my JaSam-loving heart – albeit temporarily – so sweetly.

At Karina’s insistence, I am dividing the Drives into two categories – The Wedding Night, and then, next week, the Happy Honeymoon scenes. Hey, I can never get too much of a celebration when it comes to our couple, so why not?

Let’s take a moment to appreciate The Magic Makers (vidders) who gave us the gift that keeps on giving with their incredibly done “scrapbooks” of our unforgettable JaSam Wedding Night. Where would we be without the memories?

I shudder to even imagine.

In all my years of soap watching, I have never cherished a wedding night more than Jason and Sam’s. They are truly incomparable! ❤

I hope you enjoyed this week’s Drive…Next week, we head to Hawaii!

😉

Much JaSam Love…

MODERN FAMILIES

Hi there, GHers!

If Port Charles has been known for one thing throughout its long history, it’s been family. Years ago, it was more of a traditional family – Mom, Dad, Children, Grandparents. Everything you’d expect a family to be … back in the day.

I feel as though the writers are trying (albeit a bit differently than perhaps you or I would), to remind us that Port Charles is still about families…just more… Modern Families.

Luke and his Brood of Dysfunction is a Modern Family if I’ve ever seen one. It’s just Luke and his DNA samples at times, as I think without a woman’s steady influence on his life, Luke even forgets what being a father is all about. And I guess since they have Lucky running off to Ireland to sleep in cemeteries, and await messages from beyond, Luke needed someone to remind him, and I think Tracy’s done trying, so Ethan took a crack at it, and surprisingly, he did quite well. I think what I most liked about Ethan’s dialogue with Luke is the fact that it tackled the one thing about Ethan’s parentage that never sat well with me – that it came about at a time in the Epic Luke and Laura history where longtime fans would not have believed they’d be vulnerable to extramarital affairs. Not only did Luke address that, he also addressed how Ethan was more than just some colossal mistake. I really, really appreciated the fact that Ethan would feel that every time Lucky and Lulu looked at him, they thought about Luke hurting Laura. It was reminiscent of when Nikolas came to Port Charles, and it was revealed that he was Laura’s son. I know the writers have it in them to get things right…this proves it.

Sonny Corinthos can have his own Modern Family sitcom, or crime drama, or his own freakin’ version of The Chew, as when his family gets together, they talk pasta, sauce, coffee beans, and hydrocodone, all in one messy sitting. It’s just like those ridiculous commercials for that God-awful show that killed All My Children! The one thing you’ve gotta love about the writers and this idea for a party at Sonny’s is that it can bring so much of the cast together, under one roof, as Sonny has children, and therefore connections, with just about every adult female on the canvas! I did like that Sonny was shooing Abby from the room just to get to spend some time with two of his three sons, and I loved even more that he thought it was a special moment, even while Dante and Michael were thinking he was being corny. Classic family stuff in an anything-but classic family situation. You’ve gotta love that.

Alexis and her daughters, better known as The Davis Girls, also make up a Modern Family. Single mom, three times over (though Molly got a glimpse of life with both mom and dad before she was old enough to remember it) and three beautiful, incredible, and incredibly unique daughters – yup, that’s Modern. It’s also been a winning formula, those bold, brunette Davis Girls…so it worries me that they are messing with the winning formula. Sure, I get that sometimes SORASing a kid on soaps is the only way to propel them into a bigger, and more adult storyline (a la Chad Duell replacing Drew Garrett), but the dynamic between Nancy, Kelly, Lexi, and Haley is going to be most difficult, if not impossible, to recreate. I will tell you that I cried during those goodbye scenes between them at the Lakehouse, because I know that it really was the emotion of the actors, not the characters, coming through. Yet, sentimentality aside, it really bugged the crap out of me that the picture frame that Alexis gave Kristina was of The Davis Girls, minus 1. What the heck? That would be like me giving one of my kids a family pic to keep by their bed, with one sibling missing. Not cool, Alexis. And hey – not cool, GH!

Luckily, Jason and Sam reminded me today that Sam has her own Modern Family. Jason and Sam are family in all the ways that count. They are there for each other, they love each other, and they get each other through the hard times. Sure, they’ve kinda raised a bunch of kids who belonged to other people, including their big boy, Spinelli, but that was before – when Jason and Sam were nothing if untraditional. I am thinking that Jason and Sam’s family is about to expand. Once again, Jason seems to be unable to keep his mind from being hopeful towards having a baby, and they seem to have had plenty of practice – not that we’ve seen one freakin’ iota of The Hotness!

I thought it was sweet, and deeply sentimental (which I’ve said before, seems to be a new part of this post-accident Jason) for Jason to make Sam a necklace out of the shell, especially because he never wanted to forget “that image of Sam picking it up on the beach, so happy, and at peace.” Even with the added significance of the shell representing fertility, I am thinking that the shell necklace is going to have the power to transport them back to a good and happy place, even when they find themselves in the very middle of hell.

And I guess that’s the reason we got another meaningful necklace, because since the early days of their relationship, hasn’t Sam always had something meaningful hanging around her neck, resting close to her heart? First it was the star necklace, and then the second star necklace. Then this time around, it was the compass, to remind Sam that Jason would find his way back to her, which he did; and then the polynesian symbol he gave her on Valentine’s Day – wait: to remind her of Hawaii! And finally, that lug nut Jason gave her when he proposed, which symbolized their indestructibility, and the strength of their love together, and it lay solidly atop her heart while Sam lay in Jason’s hospital bed and wondered if Jason would survive the surgery, and dreamed of what life could be like for them if he did. So, of course I get why they chose to have Jason give her another necklace…but hey, Mr. Wolf, just in case you’re wondering, there are some other pieces of jewelry we wouldn’t mind, such as an ENGAGEMENT RING, a charm bracelet with charms that represent Hawaii, where their baby was conceived, diamond earrings, or even a freakin’ anklet would be okay! It’s just that Sam is never going to walk around wearing all those necklaces…she’s not Dante, for cryin’ out loud!

😉

Something tells me that Jason may be the one needing to wear that necklace, just so that it can bring him back from the edge Franco is about to push him to. It’s coming…that scary threat that’s been hangin’ over our heads for weeks and weeks, but the way I see it, we have to face it head on in order to survive it. As for the worry that Hawaii may be ruined for them, just remember that Jason and Sam have already been terrorized in Hawaii, compliments of Manny Ruiz. Jason and Sam still chose to go back there when Jason was dying, because the good, the happy, and the unforgettable memories they made there, outweighed the horror that was Manny Ruiz. Even when Jason lay in Sam’s lap, fighting for his life in that abandoned church in Mexico, after his fight with Jerry Jacks, it was those memories of being in love, and in Hawaii with Sam, that became his lifeline, and ultimately saved his life. That tells me that nothing can ruin the paradise they’ve created. Not even another maniac.

I believe with all my heart that the reason we’ve seen and heard about the memories Jason and Sam have been making there this time around is because it’s symbolic of their LOVE. No matter what happens, the good, the happy, and the unforgettable will get them through the horrors Franco has in store. And more than that, just the possibility that they could have created a life together in their moments of bliss and all-consuming love while there, will be able to erase any moments of terror.

Besides, the Dragon brings love to those who carry him emblem, and the Phoenix can turn bad luck into good.

And together…they bring double happiness.

Hold on tight…

Angelique

***************************************************

Take a moment and let TPTB know that if they ever again run out of ideas for how to fill the time while waiting for Franco (other than giving us more HOT love scenes)…they could always do what Y&R and B&B do…they could fill all of that time letting Jason and Sam share flashbacks of their long and beautiful history. I swear sometimes the CBS soaps only have to produce half of a show, because they use flashbacks CONSTANTLY…and obviously, they’re effective! This idea alone can slash their budget and save GH!!! 😉

Be passionate, be sincere, but always BE RESPECTFUL! 😉

Friends, no  matter what you’re hearing, reading, or expecting, the truth is that Jason and Sam are about to face their biggest challenge yet!

If I am not mistaken, I thought I remembered both Steve and Kelly say during those wedding interviews that challenges tend to bring Sam and Jason CLOSER.

Let’s ride it out before melting down…and not give the loons anything to enjoy, as our reactions is all they’ve got!

I need to catch some shut eye…I’m starting to imagine that I’m asleep!

Love you all!

The Definition Of Insanity

TGIF, GHers!

For those of you who’ve been “with me” for a while, you’ll know that if there is one thing General Hospital (the actual hospital, not the show) has been missing, it’s a shrink! Lainey would be rolling in the deep…piles of money if she were still seeing patients! Port Charles is swarming with potential patients. All the tiny ‘burb needs is someone to treat all of them! This is why it excites me to know that a shrink is on his way as we speak.!

I really hope that with this new doc, we will actually be able to watch our PC favorites undergo treatment. Each of the cases would make for great story! I mean, all I have is a case of PTSD, and I’ll tell you, if you put my therapy sessions on TV, they’d get ratings! Therapy is the one place where you are encouraged (if your therapist is a good one) to find, admit, and face your truths, and where you can do it feeling protected by the veil of privacy (and good, old Hipaa laws!) 😉

Can you imagine what we’d get if we were able to watch therapy sessions from people who actually have sessions worth talking about? Michael, Lulu, Sonny, Kristina, Liz? The list goes on and on and on, and gets more captivating as it grows!

Therapy sessions make for good TV. Did anyone watch Revenge? Emily having the therapy sessions played at the fundraiser had people glued to their seats – on the show, and in homes! It’s all Fascinating stuff! I really want GH to jump on that bandwagon!

Certainly, there is enough INSANITY to go around, just in case they wanted to bring Lainey back as well.

What exactly is The Definition Of Insanity?

According to Lucky, and to the many who have used this quote before, The Definition of Insanity is to do the same thing over and over and over again, expecting a different result. In this case, I will agree. Liz and Lucky keep doing the exact same, stupid things that lead to the same destructive results. This is what Lucky was attempting to help Liz understand. Liz said that they share two children, and it’s only natural that they spend time together as a family, to which Lucky said they can’t just act as though they’re a typical, happy family. Liz’s response? “Why not? What’s stopping us?” Best answer ever? Lucky’s. He said, “History.” Oh! So true! She just would not hear him. Notice I said would not, instead of could not. Liz chooses to believe her own version of reality. She does this over and over. Liz listed all of the reasons Lucky might blame her for Siobhan’s death. She listed all the ways she was involved in Siobhan’s demise. She gave her the wrong drugs in the OR, she had a fight with her on the stairs, and she drove her into a head-on collision. So far, so good, right? Sounds like the beginning of Liz taking responsibility. Then she says to Lucky, that Siobhan was just jealous. It was as simple as that. Siobhan just refused to see the truth – that what Liz and Lucky share is just too strong, and so Siobhan and Lucky could never work. WHAAAAAAAAATTTT??? This drives me insane, and THIS, right here, is why I could not muster a single iota of sympathy for Liz, even today. Why the hell wasn’t this love she refers to STRONG enough to stop Liz from sleeping with Jason? Not just on the night of the blackout and alcohol, but why didn’t the STRENGTH of their love stop her from pursuing Jason, even after he reconciled with Sam. Why didn’t it stop her from lying over and over to Lucky? When both of those relationships were destroyed, why didn’t it stop her from carrying on an affair with Jason in secret, all while Lucky was concerned for her and the boys’ safety? Where was this STRONG love when she flirted with crossing the line with Nikolas for months? Or when she was crossing the freakin’ harbor in the middle of the night to sleep with his brother? Thank you, Garin Wolf, and today’s dialogue writer, Susan Wald, for having Lucky ask Liz how many months she was sleeping with Nikolas! Lucky tried to explain to Liz that they were holding on to a juvenile fantasy, to promises they made when they were teenagers. Liz’s comprehensive, thought-out reaction? “Its not a fantasy!” She refused to hear. She refused to listen to the truth about this dysfunction she still considers indestructible. Lucky tried tough love. He told her that what they had was an addiction. An ugly addiction, where innocent bystanders get caught up in the train wreck that is them. He said they were like two junkies. It all fell on deaf ears. Liz tried everything. Tears. A quivering bottom lip. Forcing him to look at their wedding photo, and challenging him to tell her those people aren’t in love. When that didn’t break Lucky down, she shoved photo albums of Cam and Aiden at him. And finally, she pulled what I can only refer to now as her Wild Card. Liz did the unthinkable, grabbed Jake’s photo album, and asked, “What about Jake?” Oh my word. I will never have any respect for Liz because of how she uses her children, but especially Jake. She cried to Lucky that no one would ever understand what it felt like to lose him, except the two of them. Ummmm?  That made me talk to myself in the middle of my living room. In both languages. Too bad Jason is too far away to have felt the slap in the face. All of the times Weepy Liz ran to Jason’s recently, she found a way to talk about how the connection they shared because of Jake was so much more than that. Is she going to continue to use even his memory to manipulate the men she wants in her life? What a bitch. How can his name even cross her lips, and not cause her to shudder at using it so tastelessly? I may have wanted to poke Lucky in the eyes when he told Liz that none of this was her fault, but I applauded him for actually walking out of her house without looking back, because it’s not easy for a junky to walk away from his drug of choice. Even while I watched Liz sit alone, whispering about the permanent lock on her heart, crying, and hurling their wedding photo across the room, I could only feel my lip curling in disgust. Liz may very well be The Definition of Insanity. This chick needs alone time more than a three-year-old in the middle of a tantrum. She’s done? Ha. One can only wish.

Awww. The past few days have made me a bit of a Scrubs fan. Not that I didn’t like them, it’s just that I never really considered myself a fan. However, these past few days onscreen, and Robin’s birthday showed me a side of these two I can totally root for. First, Robin has been considerably less annoying. And Patrick has been nothing short of dreamy. Patrick has found a way to live with his wife being his boss, but still found a way to take charge of his marriage, and its well-being. I have been impressed. So has Robin. Not so impressed with how well the Doctors Scorpio have recovered, is Lisa Niles. Lisa reminds us all that sometimes a woman takes rejection really, really personally, and the way Lisa took Patrick’s rejection has turned into The Definition of Insanity. Who knew that chick could get any more insane while in a coma? She barely got the sleep out of her eyes before she knocked that nurse over the head with that industrial strength food tray, traded clothes, and took off. What the hell was in that juice anyway? I’m thinking if I took it, my spine would mend itself, and I’d be running, not walking, back to work! If only there was a way to get word to Patrick and Robin. I have a feeling they’d be running, not walking, out of the country!

I guess the only way to find out what that juice really was, we would have to ask Anthony Zacchara. What a convoluted mind Anthony has.  He hatched this entire plan to teach a few people a lesson for disrespecting him. That’s the old school way for a mobster to deal with people. It’s also The Definition of Insanity. When you believe that you can rouse a monster from her sleep in order to do your dirty work, and also believe that you can then control that monster, you have clearly lost touch with reality. I am thinking it might do Anthony some good to be on the receiving end of Lisa’s food tray. He deserves to have his very own Frankenstein turn on him!

I must say that it’s a great thing to see Sonny walk into a place, flash those amazing dimples, and not think to myself, “There goes The Definition of Insanity.” Whether it’s been having Kate back in his life, or it it’s really been his desire to be his best self for his children, especially Kristina, Sonny seems to have gotten back on his meds, and he seems to be a lot more stable. No one is happier than I am about that. I enjoy seeing Sonny have his swagger back, walking around in his expensive suits, looking dashing and debonaire, and not as though he needs to be committed. I imagine that it does a world of good for his kids, again – especially Kristina, who needs stability now more than ever, as she is about to embark on a fabulous new journey. Kristina is going away to college, because her dream really did come true. She was accepted to Yale! 😦

I am terribly saddened by the news that the sweet and talented Lexi Ainsworth has been let go. I think she was the perfect daughter for Maurice and Nancy, and the perfect sister for Sam and Molly. My Davis Girls will never be the same again! I will miss Lexi terribly, and deep down, I feel that this decision was The Definition of Insanity! I wish Lexi all the best, and know she’ll take everything she learned at GH, and make an amazing career for herself! *tears*

Friends, I think it’s important that I remind you all that Franco is a sociopath. In fact, Franco is The Definition of Insanity. His return to Port Charles was motivated by his obsession with Jason. He wants to get under Jason’s skin the way Jason has gotten under his.

Since his charm and charisma have failed to do the trick of getting Jason’s attention, he is going with Plan B.  He is going to go after Jason’s biggest weakness.

Though many of us have wondered why the hell Franco has been keeping Jason and Sam under video surveillance, the one thing that Franco has been able to get from that is just how much Jason loves and adores Sam. Franco is positively sure that Jason does love Sam as though his life depended on it. Therefore, it would be easy for Franco to deduce that a threat to Sam would make Jason more desperate than he’s ever been, especially now that she is his wife.

I also think Franco knows that Carly is as predictable as we think she is. Getting Carly and Joss to Hawaii would split Jason’s focus, and that will give Franco the golden opportunity he needs.

Does thinking about all of that give you the kind of palpitations it gives me? Well, allow me to leave you with something to hang onto. Franco is fixated on Jason. Getting Jason to fixate on him – even if it’s for a negative reason (like killing him), is Franco’s goal. I don’t think Franco would split his focus long enough to do anything more than scare Sam, if you know what I mean.

I want us to be prepared for whatever comes next. I want us to be in a state of mind where we aren’t giving up on JaSam, or even General Hospital, at the first sign of trouble. Our couple is strong. We need to be just as strong.

Let’s take a step back and appreciate what this kind of storyline means for Kelly and Steve. It’s not every day that they get to act opposite Oscar nominated actors, though I do believe most of GH’s staff is worthy of an Oscar. Let’s remember that of all the characters on GH, Franco is wreaking havoc on Jason and Sam. Of all the women to have passed through Jason’s life, Franco is targeting Sam. Let’s take from that what matters, and leave behind what doesn’t.

Let’s promise each other right now that JaSam fans will not be The Definition of Insanity on Twitter, facebook, the comment lines, or the phone lines. Let’s promise to be each other’s therapy sessions as this storyline plays out.

Then, when all is said and done, we can GO CRAZY about just how strong Jason and Sam have proven themselves to be.

Deal?

Hang tough!

Don’t Answer…

Happy Hump Day, GHers!

First, I just want to thank everyone who  has asked about my mom. She is feeling much better, she’s home, and even eating regular meals. She looks great – but of course, I am a little biased. 😉

Whenever I tell my mom that all of you are thinking of her, sending prayers, and asking after her, it boggles her mind. She still doesn’t fully understand how you all came to be so important to me, but she is thankful that I have all of you to keep me focused, and purpose driven.

So, once again, thank you all for being the fabulous friends I have yet to meet, but the friends who were closest when I needed you most!

*hugs*

What a day in Port Charles, huh?

My head hurts a little from all of the falling anvils, but General Hospital is certainly pulling out thi BIG brooms for SWEEPS! Tuesday’s episode felt all crackly with anticipation, didn’t it? It was one of those episodes where you looked at the time and thought, “It’s over, already?”

I love when that happens!

To observe Robin and Patrick from afar these days, one would think that their marriage was probably sailing at its smoothest in ages! They seem to have gotten over their trust issues, they appear to be working out their working relationship, and parenting Emma sounds as though it is icing on the macaroni birthday cake! Yet, we should look a little closer. Patrick is afraid that everything between them is just too good to be true. He must realize that Port Charles is a soap town. 😉 Which must be the reason that suddenly blonde chicks – of all shades – seem to resemble Lisa from behind. Poor Patrick. He cannot seem to catch a break. Even when things are going his way, he can’t enjoy them. Luckily, Patrick has his brother, Matt, who puts down his grudge long enough to commiserate with his brother about his past indiscretions haunting him. Patrick finally gets the ugly truth about Lisa off his chest, when along comes Robin; as timely, and as know-it-all as ever, claiming to know exactly what they are talking about. Thankfully, Matt digs into his manly bag of tricks, and silently sends the message to Patrick: “Don’t Answer!” Instead, Matt covers perfectly for the preoccupied Dr. Drake, and sends Robin on her way completely satisfied with his answer. Which is why I don’t understand why Patrick can’t be a little nicer, and more supportive towards his younger brother. This is one bridge Patrick can’t afford to burn.

Especially when it seems that Patrick’s worst nightmare has just been roused from her slumber! (How soapy, Mr. Wolf!) Of all the days that Patrick could have gone to stand by Lisa’s bedside and go all vitriolic on her, he chooses the ONE day Lisa can actually hear him! *falling anvil* If only the peeps in Port Charles knew that anytime someone utters the words, “Karma’s a bitch!”, it usually means that bitch is breathing down their very own neck! *sigh* Be that as it may, that Anthony is one connected mobster, isn’t he? I mean, not only is he always one step ahead of his heir apparent, John, but he also has access to some pharmaceutical “juice” that can drag people out of their comas? That is pretty impressive! Too bad that John almost got close enough to hear what his dad was actually up to, but as usual, he opened his big mouth a little too soon! When will John finally get that his father’s only answer to John’s questions is “Don’t Answer!” As much as John is still the object of my mob affection, I really do wish he would take a lesson from his dad on how to conduct business on the phone without an audience. He nearly gave Ronnie enough to list him as a bona fide suspect, all because he’s standing around yapping on the phone in public! I don’t like it when John acts as inexperienced as Michael! I want John to be his best at everything – not just looking good! 😉

When my kids were babies, and first started walking, the first family member who witnessed their first attempts at walking was responsible for buying the baby his/her first shoes which MUST have these little silver bells on the laces, which jingled as they moved their little feet. It was a custom handed down so that the parents would always be aware of their child’s footsteps. It was Puerto Rican symbolism at its best, and I still have each of my children’s belled booties. 🙂 I am thinking that next time Sonny goes down to Puerto Rico, he has one of the shoemakers make Michael a custom pair – with the biggest freakin’ bells they can find! Cowbells perhaps! Either that, or he needs a pet microchip embedded in his ass, just so that Sonny can be aware of his son’s short-sighted, foolish footsteps BEFORE he ends up breaking the law! Really, can Michael get any dumber? It’s no wonder Sonny was basically shouting, “Don’t Answer!” to Michael! He didn’t want Michael digging himself deeper into this mess he created! Sonny was talking about how important it is for Michael to go to Argentina, but I can’t help but wonder if Michael may have turned out differently if he had just been sent to his room as a child more often! Sonny better go to church on Sunday, and thank the good Lord that Kate has decided to undo all she must have learned in therapy over the past three years. I just wish I could get a copy of the photo shoot at Sonny’s coffee warehouse! *shucks*

If I want shoes with jingle bells for Michael, I want cement shoes for his mother, so that she has to stay put in Port Charles, and away from The Honeymooning Morgans! Why must Carly be so freakin’ annoying? There is no reason for her to go to Hawaii! Shawn is absolutely right – she just wants to tell Jason herself. I wish Jason had had more time to warn Shawn about Carly’s antics – maybe then Shawn wouldn’t be bothering with Carly’s old and oh-so-tired “To Hell and Back” speech. When I heard Carly call out, “Heads Up!” to Shawn, I was screaming at the TV, “Don’t Answer!” I wanted Shawn to act like he hadn’t heard a thing, and keep walking right to security, where he reported Carly for making a terroristic threat…on our honeymoon!

Oh, Jason and Sam.

They make every scene magical.

As Hazel’s comment said, every line they said to each other was an instant classic! I can just hear the voiceovers on fantastic yet-to-be-made JaSam vids now, and for years to come!

I was thankful to see Michele Val Jean’s name in the credits as the dialogue writer. As you all know, she’s my favorite, and for goo reason. She always seems to know how to make just the right thing come of their mouths!

Their scenes have just been dripping in sweetness! Every time there is a reference to their theme song, “Just You and Me”, I smile like a fool. And Jason telling Sam that he’s not thinking about Carly, or Michael, or the business made me want to give him a lei myself! 😉

I thought the talk about the fertility shell was interesting. Since the wedding, Jason is the one who keeps asking if they are going to talk about the baby references that keep popping up. At the reception after reading their fortunes, in Hawaii after they apparently had “life-changing” sex on the beach, and again after Sam told him the shell, which they seemed to keep finding, symbolized fertility.

I find it interesting that Sam began to put the shells away, said something about being “shell shocked”, put the book back on the shelf, and probably would have been just fine changing the subject, but Jason insisted on tackling it. *applause*

Sam tried to dismiss the conversation by telling Jason she thought they tabled it until a later date. Jason countered that there they were, at a later date. (Becky, is it appropriate for me to want to lei him again so soon?)

Click to view full size image

I love that Jason isn’t pushing, but he’s not letting Sam push it aside either. I loved so much that his getting Sam to talk about having a baby led to some honest feelings on both sides. When Sam admitted to Jason that she feared that while he was grieving Jake he would leave her, and that she promised herself that she would love him enough to let him go, I was really proud of her. I know that was hard for her to even say out loud. Leave it to Jason to have the perfect response… “You know I could never leave you.” *tears* (I could lei his brains out!)

Click to view full size image

All along, Jason has talked about wanting things they didn’t even know they wanted. I really feel that Jason wants to know for sure if having a baby is what Sam really wants, but he wants her to come to terms with wanting it. And that makes sense. Let’s remember that Jason was making sure that Sam was okay with waking up happily married, because he knows that for Sam, getting what she wants scares her.

Click to view full size image

Rather than answering Jason’s direct question about whether she’s any clearer on the issue, Sam turns the question on Jason. You know, unlike Sam, I didn’t take his silence as a negative, or even as him not really being sure. I think Jason is just being careful with his answers. It reminded me of the conversations he was having with Sam before he proposed. He wanted her to say that she wanted to take that next step with him, but she couldn’t really bring herself to do it. In the end, Jason forced the issue and proposed, but I don’t think Jason feels he can approach having a baby the same way. He wants this to be a decision they make together, which is why he agreed to stay in the moment.

I think Jason is giving Sam the time to process her feelings about it, and to get used to the fact that happiness isn’t always snatched away the minute you grasp it.

Click to view full size image

Unfortunately, I am not sure that she will have the chance to get used to it this time around, as first Carly, and then Franco, are both real, live threats to their happiness.

I loved the conversation they had after their intimate “practice” time. I loved that Jason loves being married. And I thought that though Sam thinks that a lot of things between them are the same, and nothing has really changed, Jason thinks “it has somehow.”

Sam told Jason they should just soak up every moment, before reality comes knocking on their door. *anvil hurling from the sky*

To which Jason answered, “Nobody says we have to answer!”

Which, of course, made me scream, “DON’T ANSWER! PLEASE, DON’T ANSWER!”

How Can One Refuse?

Good morning, GHers!

Forgive me for not answering all of the comments right away, we came back to reality on Sunday, and my mom had kidney surgery on Monday. Needless to say, it’s been a little crazy around here. But what else is new, right?

😉

I did get caught up on GH however, and my immediate reaction was just a big WOW.

I am thankful that I gave myself  some time to process everything between the time I watch, and the time I blog, because I definitely needed some time. If I am honest, and to be fair, I guess I was in a pissy mood before I watched GH. Since I wasn’t on Twitter today, one of my wonderful tweet friends texted me the comments made by SID’s Richard, saying that GH needed to realize that JaSam wasn’t the only couple, and that they needed to spread the wealth.

Ummmm….whaaaaaaaaaat?

I would love to know what channel he’s watching, because the only way he could’ve gotten too much of JaSam was to indulge in a Youtube marathon, as so many of us do. Add to that the fact that I was tired, and already on edge about just how little time JaSam got last week, and that I had to wait about 20 minutes between each of the JaSam scenes Monday, and I could barely remember anything else. Is Richard watching the same show we are? Because between Lulu and Dante, and Sonny and Kate, and all of the Spencers, who’ve gotten considerable amounts of time onscreen, I don’t know how anyone could think JaSam is hogging screen time!

Luckily, I spent some quality time with my kids on the waterfront, got the grumpies out of me, and then rewatched. My soap needs me to watch with one eye on the prize – and that has to be finding The Beauty of GH in every episode! Besides, the soap stars I love have asked us to keep our soaps alive – specifically, I am talking about General Hospital here. And really, How Can One Refuse any of them on such a noble cause?

So, I sat back, and found all of the moments that mean something to the past and future of our favorite fictional town, and found that there are still plenty of things that keep us watching.

When you’ve been watching soaps as long as I have, people like Luke Spencer, who is basically synonymous with General Hospital, should be important to the canvas. When you look at the success of other soaps who are ahead of GH in the ratings (Y&R and B&B), you’ll realize that their shows are anchored by their vets. The only way to keep longtime, fiercely loyal fans is to keep people around that they will recognize and care about! Luke is an important part of GH’s attempt to be better at that. Hearing luke talk to Lucky about the past, hearing them both talk about Laura, and her relationship with the both of them, is something that those longtime viewers can relate to. Lucky and Luke are the familiar faces that are carrying on that Spencer history in Port Charles, so even though, like many of you, I feel that I have heard this argument between them before, I am giving Garin Wolf  the chance to write their conflict, and its resolution, his way. Like Lucky, I thought Luke’s reaction to what he did to Jake, even if it was an accident, was piss poor. Lucky, more than anyone, deserved more. I am going to give it some time, and let Mr. Wolf’s vision undo some of that damage; not just for Lucky, but for all of us. I think Lucky, too, will come around to giving his father a chance to prove himself better than that loser who felt liberated after killing his son. It may not happen right away, it may not even happen the way Luke wants it to, but I think it will happen. Luke asked his son for another chance. And when all you’ve ever wanted is for your father to try, How Can One Refuse?

I would say that the same has to go for Lulu. For all of her talk about not needing her father, and being able to separate herself from the little girl who is still looking for her dad to be there for her, I think Lulu is in denial. She is still looking for her dad to be there, even though she is looking while expecting him not to be. If Lulu seems to be falling apart a the seams quietly, even though she should be at there happiest, it is because Dante has offered to give her the happiness she has always dreamed of. However, Lulu is looking for it, while expecting Dante to leave her – even if not by choice, like he almost did by getting shot. Why wouldn’t Lulu just be honest with Dante, rather than having him play this secret game with everyone? Well, before you can admit a truth about yourself to someone else, you must first admit it to yourself. And, as I said, Lulu is in denial. So instead, she whispers sweet nothing-truthfuls to Dante, and allows him to believe that she is as thrilled as he is. I guess when the man you love is fighting for his life, and his next breath, and you’ve made him beg more than once, it finally occurs to Lulu…How Can One Refuse?

Perhaps Sonny and Kate don’t recall what recovering from a gunshot wound is like. Sleeping, even after a gunshot wound, doesn’t mean you become deaf, people! Sonny and Kate were yapping away while the whole tie I was thinking, “I hope they don’t talk about anything truly awkward – like sex,” because I knew Dante was awake, and listening. He heard Sonny wonder about how things might have been different if he’d known about Dante, but he also heard Sonny wish he had known. He heard Sonny say that he wanted Dante, and to be a part of his life. That’s what every kid wants to know about their parents. Just ask Lulu and Lucky! This is the answer to Dante’s question about  why Sonny still gets to him. It’s more than the fact that Sonny is his father, because that’s just biology, really. Knowing that Sonny’s deepest desire and regret are almost identical – in his wanting to be a father to Dante, both then and now, affects Dante whether he wants it to or not. His father wants to be just that – and every single time Dante hears Sonny admit that, he has to think,How Can One Refuse?

I am thinking that Dr. Steve Webber would bet he’s having The Best Day Ever. It’s not every day that the chick you’re dating invites you to spend the evening with her…and her stripper pole. Wow. I must admit that I was laughing as much as Scott Reeves was during that scene. I just couldn’t believe it. I want to know who came up with this idea, and I want to know who trained Lisa LoCicero, because I don’t know how she got through it! But get through it she did, and in the end, Steve and Olivia were kinda sweet. I imagine that it may have been uncomfortable for the both of them, but come on – you just know that the only thing going through Mr. Reeves’ mind was, How Can One Refuse?

😉

Shawn keeps threatening to leave town, but never does. Why do I have a feeling that Shawn is going to have opportunity to regret that? Already Shawn is showing his weakness to Carly. SHE is his weakness. Big mistake. Now she will begin railroading him into doing what she wants, and he won’t even see it until it’s too late. Where are all the backfiring cars or flashbacks when you need them? I need Shawn to be too paralyzed by his PTSD to get on a plane and help Carly ruin Jason and Sam’s honeymoon, dammit! Yet, I know that when Carly stopped him and said, “You can’t go”, what she really means is that he can’t go without her. And because he has already ben compromised, Shawn is thinking, How Can One Refuse? I wish he’d call me – I’d tell him exactly how one refuses Carly!

If there is one change that I am convinced has taken place in Jason Morgan, it is that he seems unable to refuse his bride anything! And I LOVE IT!

I am going to tell you that as frustrated as I get with the lack of honeymoon time we’ve seen as of late, I am thrilled with the moments we have gotten. Jason and Sam, via Steve and Kelly, make watching GH a joy! I find myself smiling through their entire scenes, and I sometimes get so caught up in watching them, and their expressions, that I have to go back and rewatch because I’ve missed something! Jason and Sam give us the opportunity to come out of the darkness of Port Charles (because honestly, it is EVER daytime there anymore?) that makes me worry about developing frown lines, and dive headfirst into the light, bright, sparkly Hawaiian honeymoon that makes us all smile!

Steve and Kelly really look to be enjoying each and every scene we’ve seen thus far. I imagine that they have to fight the urges to laugh, just like we do, and the best part about it is that sometimes, they fail miserably, and we get a Jason who knows how to laugh out loud, and a Sam who smiles all the way down to her toes! It’s been spectacular!

Which is why I want to see and enjoy so much more! I do understand that the incredibly talented, yet equally busy, James Franco only had a day to film everything, but I can think of a million other ways to have The Morgans spend their time alone than discussing Hawaiian shirts! 😉

That being said, I cannot deny the EPIC cuteness that is JaSam during those scenes! And not just Monday’s scenes – ALL of their honeymoon scenes have been just remarkable! From the playful “I’ll go with Option 4” scenes today, to the really sweet, “I’m impressed…and in love” scenes we got last week, and everything in between stuff like, “You’ve been dominoed!”, Jason and Sam have proven to me that the escapism of soaps is still alive and well. While watching them do just about nothing, but have so much fun doing it, I forget about everything else that’s worrying me, pressing me, or perplexing me during that glorious hour! That is exactly what soaps are about – an escape!

Jason has been attentive, indulgent, and completely romantic and dreamy! Even with the shirts, he was willing to do whatever Sam wanted, just to make her happy, even before he knew that she would give in and take it off of him. *thud* It’s as if since Sam became his wife, Jason looks at Sam, is reminded of how much he loves her, and thinks, How Can One Refuse?

Dear Garin Wolf and Writing Team, I love this Jason! Maybe even more than the new Mrs. Morgan! Whatever the changes are, can we keep this part of Mr. Morgan? Even after the honeymoon is over, can we keep the honeymoon Jason who longs to give his bride anything and everything just to make her smile? We are tuning in to see the romance, and the love, the laughter, and the meaningful moments between them. How Can One Refuse?

We all needed this time for JaSam. The fans who’ve waited years to finally have Jason and Sam focus on their relationship, instead of everyone else’s relationships, and everyone else’s kids! Jason needed this. This time to be whatever Sam wants and needs, because she has always been that for him. And Sam not only needed this, she is more deserving of this attention and happiness than anyone else I can think of in Port Charles! I want her to have it, and I don’t want anyone or anything to take it from her!

Not even Franco.

Still believing in JaSam’s Love,

Angelique
