Focusing On The Things That Keep Us Watching

IN THE COUNSEL OF MANY…

GOOD FRIDAY MORNING, GHERS!

Yesterday was my baby boy’s 13th birthday, and he had a half day of school, so we spent the rest of the day together as a family. Therefore, it took me a little while to get caught up with everyone, and with GH, but caught up I have.

Growing up, my grandpa used to quote Proverbs 15:22 to us all the time… “In the counsel of many, there is wisdom.”

In other words, one should never think they know it all. She should always be willing to listen to those around her, and that it what I did last night and this morning.

And as I went through all of your fantastic comments, fb messages, and texts, I had to smile at just how true proverb is. I also took a moment to be thankful for all of you. This is why Bella Mafia has always been such a source of “therapy” for me.

You guys ROCK!

I took everything you all said, and mixed it all together, rolled it into one big ball of advice, and this is what I think being “In the Counsel of Many” has helped me to come away with: While most of us are deeply concerned that the new writing team doesn’t really know who Jason and Sam essentially are as well as we do, we are willing to give them at least a little leeway to pull off an exciting new chapter for our fantastic couple.

And by the way, Misters Valentini and Carlivati – we clearly understand the meaning of the word,
leeway:
1. sideways drift
2. a permissible difference; allowing some freedom to move within limits

We hope you do, too!

I kinda felt that I might see signs of a story twist that might warrant our patience in that yesterday, Carly was asked by Sonny whether or not she believed him. I thought, “Please don’t let Sam be the only one who has “lost a bit of faith” in Sonny’s ability to make the right choice all the time, making her the odd woman out.”

Thankfully, Carly said the same thing Sam said, almost verbatim.

Another good sign was that in a rare moment of wisdom, Sonny called Carly out for telling Jason the truth about Robin – not necessarily because she wanted him to know the truth, but because she wanted to be the first to give him the news. Even before his wife. Sonny pointed out that she didn’t have Jason’s best interests at heart, and I could have kissed him for it! Hopefully, Jason heard everything that was said, and will let it sink in to that oh-so-damaged brain of his.

Mr. Morgan needs to remember that Mrs. Morgan, unlike Carly or Sonny, or anyone else really, always has Jason’s best interests at heart. Sam is always motivated by her love for him; and her acceptance of, and loyalty to, Jason should garner her some of the same.

No???

I have to believe that someday, all of our dreams will come true, and Jason is going to smack some sense into Carly simply by telling her, and then showing her, that HIS WIFE is Number One.

I guess we will have to be a little more patient, as it seems that perhaps the work of John McBain in Port Charles will include helping Jason to arrive at that destination via a little FEAR of losing Sam, or CONCERN about not meetings her needs. And while I detest contrived angst, I am more than ready for Jason to be scared that Sam may not always be so easily within reach.

I am all for wake-up calls!

I’d like to think that we are offering the new team over at GH, “guided” leeway; meaning we will not just sit idly by as things unfold. We are committed to letting them know what we are loving, and what we are not.

GH appears to have pulled the out the seemingly impossible rabbit out of the proverbial hat in that they may just get more time on air. We would love for that time to be filled with romance, adventure, and magic!

Clearly, yesterday’s release of GH’s latest ratings indicate that the thought of more turmoil, fighting, and rivalries don’t exactly strike a harmonious chord in the minds, or more importantly, the hearts, of viewers! Can we just get some moments of Light and Love – especially with the characters that mean the most to us?

PLEASE???

I saw Ron Carlivati tweeted with fans the other day, and someone asked about Sam’s (lack of) dr.’s visits. He actually asked, (something to the effect of) “do you really want to see that? Most people tend to avoid the dr.”

Oh, Mr. Carlivati, *giggles* welcome to GENERAL HOSPITAL. (emphasis on the word HOSPITAL ūüėČ )

That¬†question gave me a sneaking suspicion that our new head writer has not familiarized himself with GH’s SuperCouple’s incredible early history. Some of their best, most significant moments began at the hospital. Like this one, where Jason sets the magic in motion: (I love his desperation here, which is why we should see Jason being desperately apply about finally getting his own family) JaSam 5/21/04:¬†http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddiAA0GCe5k Credit: LoriJoGH

And who could forget moments like this? JaSam 7/1/04: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqDKdQD5E1I Credit: kjewel13 (Somehow, we all knew that Jason would say that he wanted to go with Sam to her appointment)

And…*tears* who can forget this? JaSam 11/3/04:¬†http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhWAL4WIEC4 Credit: kjewel13

Those moments helped lay the foundation for a Love Story like no other on Daytime TV! Certainly, more moments like this will help bring back the idea of LOVE IN THE AFTERNOON! (If Steve and Kelly don’t absolutely translate their scripts into LOVE each time, no one can!)

I truly hope it’s not just the 80’s-era History of GH that is remembered and honored onscreen. In order to appeal to the masses, their most recent and most successful history has to be honored as well.

We don’t have a moment to waste!

Keep calling, emailing, fb messaging, and snail-mailing TPTB! Hopefully, they too, will find that “In The Counsel Of Many…There is, In Fact, Wisdom.”

Enjoy your weekend, everyone! I must run to prepare for the next 12 days of celebration. (In our house, our kids get to celebrate their birthday for as many days as their age; in this case 13.)

I’ll pick you all up for our Sunday Drive!

Angelique

Oh..I love your blog today! Awesome! Happy b’day to your youngest teen! Another milestone!
Ron C. is going to write a bunch of contrived stumbling blocks and angst for Jasam it seems, but I do believe he’ll show them as the strong couple they are and be able to overcome it all. I don’t like it…but, I adore Jasam..so I’m not going anywhere. I will continue to write and call and let the “writers” know what I think. ONE THING MISSING for sure..is Sam having some fear that this baby is born healthy and normal. There should be maybe flashback to show new viewers Jasam’s history of the baby dying. I want to see JEALOUS JASON LIKE NEVER BEFORE.
